There was very little discussion about the favored chart and how it reflected the national character. In fact, one poster dismissed this as irrelevant.
I am surprised by this revelation, that apparently so many astrologers were convinced by the placements within the Sibley chart of the Saturn Pluto opposition on 911.
Pluto in Sagittarius and the 7th house fits the profile of foreign terrorists who attacked us. Saturn and the first house indicates a vulnerability to that attack.
Sun in Cancer in the 2nd house fits the importance that the country places on money and possessions, and the yardstick we use to judge the worth of people. I think the Uranus and Mars straddling the first house cusp indicates the dynamism and our can do spirit, our scientific and technological inventiveness, our love of liberty and independence, and also our unilateralism. But on the other hand, our history has shown that we’ve gone from an isolationalist nation to one that has engaged in countless military interventions around the world. I realize this is a point that applies equally to a 7th house Mars. Gemini rising, this is the country that invented the personal computer, the cell phone, and 24 hour cable news, I think as well. We talk so much, even with our clothes. We multi-task, which is the opposite of the one-pointedness of Sagittarius. We seem to lack a curiosity and interest in other nations and cultures, which is strange for a country that is deemed to have Sagittarius rising.
Pluto in the 8th to my mind reflects accurately the covert sabotage and power and control we exert over nations through the IMF and the World Bank. An economic way of waging war in the interests of U.S. hegemony and empire.

Maybe we do not discuss the Saturn/Neptune quincunx, because it is too difficult to understand/explain—-I certainly have never understood it—And–went looking for more information.. I am personally “sick and tired” of hearing the “American Dream”. Maybe it is because I am an 8 Path, but I never thought of the dream ! Whatever I made myself, was my dream! think of all of these different aspects to planets as a blend of their 2 planets energy manifesting in the context of the particular aspect… quincunx is 150 or 6th/8th house/sign type dynamics… in this particular partnership of saturn/neptune, saturn is in an 8th house/sign position to neptune, while neptune is in a 6th house/sign position to saturn.. further to this the 2 signs virgo and aquarius are involved.. all i do is take the symbolism associated with these astro signatures and blend it.. when i read others comments on it, i have enough clarity to see whether they are making sense or not, but am not as articulate at describing these combinations to others.. i do however understand how they blend and the astro symbolism involved.. i don’t see a 6th or 8th house/sign dynamic as being any less significant then a 1st or 4th or 7th to continue to hammer away on the relative equality between all the different aspects and connections being made..
for example, much is made of the present t square that is unfolding which i think is merited up to a point.. however i would regard this saturn/neptune as equally significant in a way as well and of course saturn is involved in both so it becomes a pivot planet and takes on even more significance as i see it…anyway, as you can see all this stuff fascinates me and so i engage in it with a real passion and love for it all..
now as to post 50 and Angela Merkel’s chart with comments from marjorie, here is another example where i can comment more freely on something i always tended to back off from on her site but first i will put it in th form of a question to get to what i want to say..
how does an astrologer know which solar arcs are more significant then the others? if an astrologer was only using transits as donna cunningham does for example, what would she see that the person looking at the solar arc might get sidetracked with? you see, as i know astrology solar arcs are most significant when they are backed up in the transits to the same spots.. this is where i believe marjorie falls down as she is very capable of highlighting prominent solar arcs, but not so good are knowing which ones are of greater significance then others.. which one takes on more relevance to Angela Merkel’s chart – sa pluto to midheaven, sa saturn to mars, or sa moon to mercury, which i am not sure if she mentioned? check first the relationships going on within the natal chart between natal pluto to midheaven.. it is favourable, thus a sa of pluto to midheaven on its own does not cast a challenging light in the same way it would if it was a hard aspect between the two.. what is the relationship between saturn and mars in the natal chart? this is more of a conflict as i see it, but still not severe as they are not in a direct aspect relationship with one another, only in signs right next to one another.. what is the dynamic between moon and mercury in the chart? it is an almost exact bi-quintile or 144 degree circle divided by 5 aspect contrasting talent of some sort involving the 2 planets..
now, what transits are hitting which of the solar arcs that stand out the most out of the 3 mentioned here? nothing via the transits is hitting either natal pluto or the natal midheaven here yet.. the solar arc saturn at mars at 26 sag 34 is about 2-3 degrees off the saturn/uranus opposition at present and this mars is at about the same degree via square to where kevin rudds sun/mars conj was in virgo.. as to the solar arc moon square natal mercury, the natal moon is being hit directly by transit of saturn/uranus opposition via 45/135 aspects, while the natal mercury at 9 cancer has type 5 aspects directly hitting it as well – these are t uranus 108 to mercury – 1 and 1/2 quintile, and t saturn to natal mercury at about an 80 degree or novile aspect to one another.. if anything, i see the solar arc to mars as significant here, with the moon/mercury almost equal.. the sa moon to mercury i see as favourable – she has friends in high places that are going to be helpful to her, while the sa saturn to mars is more challenging.. saturn natally is in the problem with others money position, while mars is in the place of taking a leadership role to resolve this conflict.. that is what she appears to have cut out for her..
now perhaps she will step down or be replaced as the leader of germany.. eventually she will and i suspect the 45 between mercury in the 7th to pluto in the 9th will be the source of it when these same large planets – pluto and saturn and uranus feed into this aspect, but i am going to wait and see how things unfold for her here as i am not convinced another kevin rudd type switch is in the cards… the sa pluto to midheaven is a consolidating as opposed to take down direction here as i see it…perhaps in another 2 years it is a different story.. sorry for the long post, but had to get that off my chest!!

About the comparison of Obama with Lincoln, there are a number of connections in their charts. I posted on this over at Starlight’s once, but the feeling I got as to the meaning of this is that Obama has been given the baton as far as the work to “create a more perfect union.” A part of what that means was eloquently expressed by Martin Luther King in his “I have a dream” speech, which the 2008 election and its aftermath has shown we have not achieved as a nation yet.

Free Speech is now illegal on the beaches of the Gulf Coast. Any reporter, photographer or blogger caught within 65 feet of an oil spill boom, vessel or cleanup operation will be arrested, fined as much as $40,000 and prosecuted with a Class F felony crime by the U.S. government.
I’m not making this up. This is your “Independence Day” gift from the Obama administration, which once promised “transparency” in Gulf cleanup operations.

dbla – Shangri-La Hotels – vancouver is sometimes called hongcouver – hong kong being where many of the newly arrived people came from when their was some uncertainty around what china would do with hong kong… turned out they kept it the same but many of the wealthy folks liked vancouver and stayed.. i guess they figure they can make a buck in the hotel biz in vancouver too… stay at the sylvia down near english bay – it is more simple quaint and in a nice spot in the downtown core…
