regarding the outer planet t square…. i have some thoughts on this that i’d like to share.. if we leave out jupiter for a moment, essentially this is a tug of war between uranus and saturn with pluto holding all the power, or a lot of the power.. pluto is at the top of the t square and where the focus and way to resolution rests… we are talking about a concentration of power – material, or financial power – earth sign capricorn would seem to capture this with pluto in it… on the bottom end saturn in libra tries to work things out diplomatically while sensing something more is needed to breakdown the oligarchies and corporations that dominate the political culture of the usa, canada and so much of the rest of the world.. uranus the shit disturber is in aries and is going to try to bust up the impasse…

Thanks for your comments. It is true the absence of a TOB obviously places certain limitations on the reading of a chart. But I don’t find that to be an obstacle to the degree that evidently you do, case in point being Breitbart. Also, all transits, minor and major, implicate the houses that is easily deduced by the position of the transiting planet by sign in relation to the natal planet and it’s sign, that is either an applying or separating aspect. So in that respect, not having the planetary positions in the houses is to some degree overcome when working with transits.
As for your reasons “not to sweat” the t-square, I don’t know what you’re talking about. Did you hear about the guy in Oakland, CA who just last week wanted to start a revolution by killing DFHs and environmentalists? The only reason there aren’t dead peoples’ surviving relatives sweating it is because jihad boy was pulled over by the cops on route to the ACLU office. And, we’ve got U.S. soldiers abducted by the Taliban in Afghanistan…under this set of transits?…are you kidding me?

Your point is well taken as a general statement that probably countless people were born the same day as Breitbart and their manifestations are quite dissimilar from him. Although many of us on any given day have quite daunting elements in our charts to contend with, not everyone acts out, or at least not in the same way. Here’s where that saying fits in that probably too many of us “lead lives of quiet desperation.” But, none of these unknown persons’ charts were under consideration. helena 15 – thanks for your ongoing notes here too.. i didn’t think it was fair or accurate to single out sun/mars conjunction in his chart as the cause for him firing off in the way that he did.. think of all the folks born up to 5 days prior to him who would have had sun/mars much more exact… i thought it might have something to do with saturn in aries – the sign that mars has a strong connection with.. of course saturn in aries lasts for 2 1/2 years, much longer then a mars transit to sun… either way, i guess what i was trying to say is without a specific chart to see the angles and where everything is it is difficult to define just what part of the chart is causing what.. clearly his mars at approx 18 scorpio is experiencing the jupiter/pluto square via 45/135, so i agree his twisted energy is coming out of this mars… i guess i am saying in too many words, what i need to say in less…

It is the first release in thirty-nine years or forty years, since I first gave the Pentagon Papers to the Senate, of the scale of the Pentagon Papers, and not the first as it should have been. I would—how many times in those years should there have been the release of thousands of pages showing our being lied into war in Iraq, as in Vietnam, and the nature of the war in Afghanistan? It’s the military law, so he’s in deep water here, as I think he expected. But nevertheless, I hope people will not be deterred from realizing that they have the responsibility that, according to the reports we’ve had of what Manning said in chat logs to the informant, Adrian Lamo, that realize that there is great deception going on, that there is, in Manning’s reported words, horrific material, almost criminal, as he put it, which deserve to be in the public domain, that they will consider doing what’s been done here, and that is risking their own career and their clearance and even their liberty, maybe for life, in order to save many lives. So, whoever did this—and Manning is charged with it—it remains to be seen whether the government can prove a case against him in the particular charges, but in terms of what he’s reported to have said to Lamo, I admire very much the spirit in which he did this. He said that he felt the public needed to know this and that he was prepared to go to prison, even for life—he said that—or even to be executed. i have 3 different charts for pakistan, but the one i like that is used by pakistani astrologers is aug 14 1947 930am karachi pakistan..
this chart is under pressure and has been for some time.. one could say it is a chart that always operates under pressure as the angles of ascendant 28 virgo 54 and
midheaven 28 gemini 54 have at their midpoint the conjunction of pluto saturn at 13 leo.. the chart has some similarities to israels chart with the focus on leo, but here the sun is also in leo, while mars is at 0 cancer 10.. neptune is rising at 8 libra 48…
the chart is contained within a biquintile between uranus at 25 gemini 09 and jupiter at 18 scorpio 56 – the same spot as briestarts mars.. the chart has an eastern focus – meaning independent and not really interested in relating to others so much as expressing more narrow self interests which is what an eastern hemisphere emphasis implies..
obviously the transits to this chart are horrendous, but the fact they were born with the saturn/pluto conj implies the ability to weather a number of storms successfully, so long as they don’t completely break down.. the combo highlights an intense brooding dark center focused on survival at all costs.. the alternative is some form of suicide a characteristic of a strong saturn/pluto conj in leo as i understand it..
the jupiter in scorpio is being transited directly by the jupiter/pluto square via 45/135.. the ascendant has on it the grand t square going on at present, as does natal mars at 0 cancer.. the whole cluster of planets in leo with the exception of mercury at 5, are all being hard aspected by this major t square.. saturn/pluto at 13, venus at 14 and sun at 20 leo all tie into the transiting t square via 45/135 aspects directly…
the solar arcs are all about 60 degrees from their original postion – 62 to be exact as that is about how old pakistan is… solar arc jupiter at 20 cap is 150 natal sun at 20 leo… this is a problem as sun/jupiter are tied together via square in the natal chart… i think pakistan could see it’s position jeopardized in terms of continued expansion monetarily.. i think solar arc moon at 19 virgo in the 12th 45 to the mercury/chiron square in this chart suggest a degree of uncertainty is overshadowing where pakistan sits in relation to the new revelations coming out of the wikileak release from yesterday..
pakistan seems to have always sat in an awkward position with regard to 9-11 where many connections seem to have been made to pakistan and the isi and where it is in relation to the war in afganistan in terms of its support for the usa on the one hand and its ability or not to work with the warring factions in the remote areas of pakistan that don’t seem to be under pakistan rule…
i remember discussing the possibility of musharraf being knocked off while he was in power – there certainly were a number of attempts on his life -(of course bhutto was murdered) and how whoever leads pakistan is walking a very fine line between catering to the usa’s war agenda and not arousing hostility from the taliban or forces inside pakistan possibly including the isi that are not interested in catering to the usa’s agenda in any way…
when you think about it, the war and wars in general thanks to bush and iraq being subcontracted out to the blackwaters of the world – wars are now more about corporations that have no allegiance to a particular country.. sure many of these seem to be coming out of the usa, but it seems the general public is not supportive of them, in so far as their livelihood is not adversely affected by their discontinuation… it is an interesting situation really.. the usa military seems to be playing an increasingly secondary role to all the private contractors.. i read recently how in order for these wars to continue the usa will have to continue to move in this direction…
it is like a monster has taken over the us gov’t and wants to hand it over to those whose only interest is in perpetuating war.. the banks, the military industrial complex, the private contractors and etc etc seem to have basically taken over the us gov’t and idealistic well meaning politicians like obama are at a loss as to how to stop any of it.. their very livelihood depends on it’s continuation as well… very very sad situation going on here as i see it and it will end badly – has to end badly.. but when it does end, their will be a light at the end of it.. that light is what is pulling all of us toward it.. if there was a way out to reach that place where we didn’t have to go thru the continued agony of being reminded daily of the constant talk of war, it would be very good indeed.. so far, i can’t see it.. it is a reason to want to read a good book, go to the river or beach or take your dog for a walk, which is what i am now going to do.. happy trails folks..

the long transit of saturn down over the ascendant into the lower hemisphere of the chart suggests a more difficult transition for pakistan and it is coming at a time where it seems to be increasingly in the news, perhaps due this same focus on war in afganistan… at the same time uranus moves up into the 7th along with jupiter at present and bringing some unforeseen surprises, some good some not so good, but more of the former given the more insulated feel to the chart as i see it.. transiting pluto down in the 4th suggests a seething undercurrent of power struggles on the home front that clashes with the leadership as represented by the mars/midheaven conj.. benazir bhutto was murdered on dec 27 2007 when pluto was directly hitting the angles to this chart and a mars opposite pluto/jupiter conj also directly on these angles suggestive of an ongoing power struggle at the top in pakistan..
meanwhile asif ali zardari – july 26 year 1955 or 1956 (1955 according to wikipedia) the husband of bhutto has been president since and leader of the peoples party.. the chart for him taking the oath of presidency is sept 9 2008 1:34pm karachi.. at the time both pluto and jupiter where stationary direct within a 3 day span.. pluto is also conj the ascendant at 23 sag 24, while moon conj jupiter at 12 cap is squaring the midheaven planets of venus/mars mercury at 12, 13 and 14 libra respectively.. i only have a day chart for zardari and am inclined to use the 1955 as i have seen a pic of his beaming face suggestive of the sun/jupiter in leo conjunction.. his chart is a very challenging chart in many regards as well regardless of the time.. the major push pull square of jupiter/saturn sitting next to his first quarter sun/moon also has mars in the mix at 10 leo…. noon chart would give 10 scorpio moon directly square the natal mars/jupiter conjunction which could fit as he was married to bhutto who would seem to reflect some of these energies..tough to get much done with this chart and perhaps zardari is only a figurehead and not much else… i don’t know enough about the inner workings of the pakistan gov’t to know much about this.. it seems back when musarraf was in power pakistan was essentially a military dictatorship or sorts with ongoing support from the usa.. not sure what exactly has changed, but perhaps others here would like to bring me up to speed on it all, along with any clarity they could bring to any of the charts in use for what i’ve covered here today..

8. I’ve been trying to write about this observation for a while, but haven’t found the means to express it. So I am just going to state it, in what I admit is speculative form. Here’s what I said on Twitter Sunday: “We tend to think: big revelations mean big reactions. But if the story is too big and crashes too many illusions, the exact opposite occurs.” My fear is that this will happen with the Afghanistan logs. Reaction will be unbearably lighter than we have a right to expect— not because the story isn’t sensational or troubling enough, but because it’s too troubling, a mess we cannot fix and therefore prefer to forget.
Last week, it was the Washington Post’s big series, Top Secret America, two years in the making. It reported on the massive security shadowland that has arisen since 09/11. The Post basically showed that there is no accountability, no knowledge at the center of what the system as a whole is doing, and too much “product” to make intelligent use of. We’re wasting billions upon billions of dollars on an intelligence system that does not work. It’s an explosive finding but the explosive reactions haven’t followed, not because the series didn’t do its job, but rather: the job of fixing what is broken would break the system responsible for such fixes.
The mental model on which most investigative journalism is based states that explosive revelations lead to public outcry; elites get the message and reform the system. But what if elites believe that reform is impossible because the problems are too big, the sacrifices too great, the public too distractible? What if cognitive dissonance has been insufficiently accounted for in our theories of how great journalism works… and often fails to work?
I don’t have the answer; I don’t even know if I have framed the right problem. But the comment bar is open, so help me out.
NATO rocket killed 45 Afghan civilians: government
At least 45 civilians, many women and children, were killed in a rocket attack by the NATO-led foreign force in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province last week, a spokesman for the Afghan government said on Monday.
The incident happened in Helmand’s Sangin district on Friday when civilians crammed into a mud-built house to flee fighting between NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops and Taliban insurgents, Siyamak Herawi told Reuters.
“The investigation shows that the rocket was fired by NATO and 45 civilians, many of them women and children, have been killed,” he said.
Reports of civilian deaths and casualties caused by foreign troops are a major cause of friction between Afghan President Hamid Karzai and his Western backers and have led to street protests.
An ISAF spokesman said the alliance had conducted operations against insurgents in the area on Friday and was investigating the reports of civilian deaths.
Confirmation of the incident by the government comes on a day when tens of thousands of classified U.S. documents published by the whistleblower group WikiLeaks cast a new light on civilians caught in what it called “the true nature of this war.”
The documents cover the period until U.S. President Barack Obama took office and adopted a new strategy that sought to reduce civilian deaths in conjunction with a troop surge to tackle the Taliban in their spiritual heartland.
ISAF casualties have soared this year but, after the new strategy’s architect, General Stanley McChrystal, was dismissed in an insubordination scandal last month, his successor said he would review some operational tactics — including air strikes on suspected Taliban hideouts.
In the worst incident of its kind, 140 civilians were killed in May last year in an ISAF air strike on a compound in Gerani, in western Farah province, among them 93 children and 25 women.
ISAF said the Sangin incident was being investigated.
“We have an assessment team there right now,” Major Michael Johnson told Reuters.
Western contributors to ISAF said reducing civilian casualties was a priority.
“Our activities should aim first of all at defending the population, not fighting the population,” Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini told reporters on the sidelines of a European Union meeting in Brussels on Monday.
“When civilian casualties occur, there is a very bad picture offered to public opinion and the world.”
WikiLeaks said the documents it published on Monday showed thousands of civilian deaths, in ones and twos, went unreported or were unaccounted for.
The group’s founder, Julian Assange, said the power of the material lay in its accumulation of small, previously unknown details rather than any disclosure of one large event.
“The real story of this material is that it is war, it is one damn thing after another. It is the continuous small events, the continuous deaths of children,” Assange said.

As fas as I can see Wikileaks was registered as a domain name on 4 Oct 2006 and launched onto public access on 3 Jan 2007. It’s fun to speculate about Julian isn’t it? We already know he has an emphasized Uranus. Given his constant moving as a child, I thought Uranus in the 4th house which could give him a Gemini rising. Or, he could have a Moon, Uranus in major aspect. His background in physics and because he’s obviously highly intelligent and a thinking type, and his turning to the internet, makes me think he has an emphasis on air. His squaring off against the government could mean Mars and Saturn in major aspect. He’s tougher than he looks! Anyway, I think he has a strong Mars. one of the best ways is taking some real event and examining how it relates to the chart.. what is the astro that explains the wikileaks on the afganistan chart? the wikileaks stories came out on ? july 25th or thereabouts…the mercury/neptune opposition close to that date is on the midheaven axis in the 845pm chart but further away in the 9pm chart.. one could say the angles are no good in the 845pm chart as sa uranus has already passed the midheaven in this chart – 3 years ago approx.. what describes the wikileaks event in the afganistan solar arc directions or transits for either of these charts? this is the kind of thing i do..
is it sa mercury square natal neptune? is it sa uranus 135 natal sun? i think these could describe it, but they exist in either chart 845pm or 9pm…is there anything hitting either of the angles based off any of this info?

House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, D-Wis., said he was torn between his obligation to bring the bill to the floor and his “profound skepticism” that the money would lead to a successful conclusion of the war.
Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., said that the leaked documents revealed the corruption and incompetence of the Afghan government.
“We’re told we can’t extend unemployment or pay to keep cops on the beat or teachers in the classroom, but we’re asked to borrow another $33 billion for nation-building in Afghanistan,” he said. “I think we need to do more nation-building here at home.”

There were more substantive reasons why the Washington Post was not selected to receive the leaked documents than the Politico headline suggests. In the interview with Amy Goodman (link above), Julian is critical of the Post’s and the U.S. media’s fawning relationship with the White House, i.e., calling the White House prior to a story being released and withholding information from the public at the administration’s request…I also thought Julian could have Gemini rising – forget what I said yesterday – I think he has Uranus in the fourth house which means he could have Gemini rising. About the Amy Goodman interview, she asked Julian straight out who his sources were! What was she thinking?! And then she asked him if Manning was his source! I couldn’t believe she would ask him that and then, like she didn’t hear him the first time, she does it again! Amy Goodman! But, you get to hear Julian talk for 40 minutes, so small annoyance in an otherwise great interview.

It’s somewhat encouraging that people want to hear about Afghanistan. Pat Lang agrees about the failure of COIN in Afghanistan. He says we’re on our way out. It’s a matter of time. It took about 18 months after the Pentagon Papers were leaked for U.S. involvement in Vietnam to come to an end. So, I’m not surprised the House just gave Obama another $37 billion. All the reasons official Washington gives to be there is just a story they tell themselves. It seems to me what’s really going on is they’re addicts justifying their habit and perfectly happy to go on being addicts. There are significant differences between the Vietnam era and now because so few have skin in the game. There was a draft then. The point is – and I hope people are getting it – the government has unlimited money to spend on wars but there’s no money for jobs and social programs, education, universal health care, on and on. If there isn’t a widespread popular uprising under these set of transits and under these circumstances, I don’t know when there will be.

8. I’ve been trying to write about this observation for a while, but haven’t found the means to express it. So I am just going to state it, in what I admit is speculative form. Here’s what I said on Twitter Sunday: “We tend to think: big revelations mean big reactions. But if the story is too big and crashes too many illusions, the exact opposite occurs.” My fear is that this will happen with the Afghanistan logs. Reaction will be unbearably lighter than we have a right to expect— not because the story isn’t sensational or troubling enough, but because it’s too troubling, a mess we cannot fix and therefore prefer to forget.
No truer words spoken, I believe the leaks will stay in the collective mix and play it’s part in the imploding of all the corrupt governments.

What I took away from this news is that the Fed is worried about deflation. The economy is not recovering, contrary to what’s been said over and over in the media. Also, astrologically, Ray Merriman indicated a pattern that the market has peaked during prior exact hits of the Saturn Uranus opposition followed by a sell off. I’ll be looking forward to what he has to say this week.

Of what I know about economics? deflation is a concern.
The economy is not recovering. Teachers here–have to take 5 days off–without pay ! ” 5 days” !

You’re partly right though, a similar incident happened recently, but this just happened today. I’m glad Grijalva’s seat is safe. I was disappointed though that he backed down apparently on the public option and voted for the health care “reform” bill without it. I think that’s what it was, or something equally significant.

Deflation is a very real and serious problem right now, which is what happened in the 1930s. Money becomes scarce. Consumers aren’t spending because we have millions of people without jobs or afraid of losing jobs. And consumer spending is the main driver of the U.S. economy. The effect of the first stimulus has run out. Bernanke has been trying to get Congress to pump more money into the economy because he knows the economy is going south and needs more stimulus right now. With the current disfunctional Senate, ain’t going to happen. Also, what corporations are doing which is maximizing profits by cutting employees eventually will stop working for them because there won’t be anyone to buy their products.

In the Gemini rising chart, Jupiter/Uranus is in the 10th, so the party in power and our governing elites are pumped up over Petraeus’s new command in Afghanistan, hoping he’ll breathe new life into this war, and overstating the recovery, which is a fantasy. But for the people it’s grim, and we aren’t getting any satisfaction, with Mars and Saturn in the fourth.

The protests are “wild” here– and in Phoenix too..mostly younger people. Some are arrested for ” “Civil Disobedience”–but it is peaceful. It is all those opposed to SB1070– Tucson police have never seen such excitement.. streets blocked off and police everywhere ! eventually–it will lead to war protests. Then–I will go–This is humorous to me !!–All local stations are carrying the Protests–and people are calling in and e-mailing, locally, that they do not like the news !! LOL– There are no people out ” For” SB1070′.. They would be the Republicans, and they are too “spooked” to be out ! I think the polls are wrong here, because there are too many people –out– opposed to it..Most protesters have cameras too, documenting it all !

i don’t know if anyone remembers the post i did on pakistan a few days – 5 or so – ago? pakistan had its worst aviation accident ever on tuesday.. the event took place at about 943am islambad.. if you do a chart for this time you can see the close connections between the pakistan chart for 930am aug 14 1947 and the time of this plane crash.. while i wouldn’t have predicted the plane crash, i would have predicted a difficult time for pakistan and continue to do so given the overall direction of the transits to the chart – one of 3, which i happen to think works well for pakistan.. i am very sorry for all the families who lost their loved ones in this plane crash..

Sodom and Gomorrah, I think so. The prison news is chilling. I had rumors of this but first I saw it in real print ! A local News station at 10–last night was the only one tying Gov Brewer to the prisons. This really is scandalous. I am beginning to think this is really the “Sun-Belt Mafia”".. I could blame it on all the Republicans in office here? but not sure yet.

The tv coverage today was predominantly about AZ. It looked like there was a lot of energy among the protesters, but I appreciate your account being in AZ. Undocumenteds are only the latest scapegoats, but I’m somewhat hopeful given the push back. It’s interesting to see how the t-square is playing out so far. Saturn Pluto relates to scapegoating, but we’re also seeing the push back from the Jupiter Uranus side – individuals speaking out and taking a stand for civil liberties.
